Hi everyone! Noob here. I checked out the Engine Inspiration thread and have some specific questions about painting the motor on my XV750.
-What's the best way to clean the motor after it's off the bike? Best way to cover the intake and exhaust openings?
-Is it possible to do a good job painting the motor without disassembling it, or is that pretty much mandatory? I want to paint the entire thing matte black.
-If you CAN do a decent job without taking it apart, how do most people handle the nuts and bolts? Remove them, or just leave them on and paint? Will that affect anything if I try to remove them later?
-Looks like most engine paints need to be cured by either baking or running the motor. How durable is it until the motor bakes it? Will the paint chip/scratch just trying to lift the motor back onto the bike?
-If the motor does need to be taken apart, is there a general price range one would expect to pay to have it professionally done?
Thanks in advance for the advice! I'm doing a XV750 cafe build (the 83187361823218th knock off of Hageman's) and want to get it right
