Engine spins while trying to line up timing marks CB360

So I am trying to do valve clearance adjustments on my CB 360. I'm rotating the engine to line it up with the LT mark on the compression stroke but it spins on its own and I can't get it to line up unless I'm holding it in place.

I did the cam chain adjustment recently and it worked fine. So not sure what changed between then and now.

That should happen. you can put your wrench on the rotor and put something underneath the wrench to wedge it while you do your adjustment. I usually use a jack stand.

Yep, normal. Makes adjusting the valves a pain in the arse ;D

I put a breaker bar on the rotor and can usually wedge it against the footpeg to line it up.

When you did your cam chain adjust, you were 90* past TDC?

When I did the cam chain I had it on the kickstand so the wheel didn't spin because of that. I'm not positive what position it was in, but I was following a YouTube instruction video from common motor

The crank doesn't need to be at a specific angle to adjust the valves, the idea is to just ensure whichever valves are being adjust are not under tension.

TDC on each side during the compression stroke is a good spot.
