A few people were asking for some details on my bike so I decided to start a thread. I've been building race cars for a long time, but this is the first bike I've ever worked on....so I'm sure there are things I would have done differently if I could go back.
I wish I would have documented the build a little better....but heres what I have.
Here is the bike when I bought it.
I was originally going to just change the bars and clean it up....but that idea did not last. The more I looked at things....the more I realized how hastily the bike was built.
I ordered some bars from dimecity(I have to run low bars due to messed up shoulders) and I found a CB160 tank on ebay that I liked.
Then I started drinking...so new years eve I got a little pissed off that everything was hacked together...so I tore down the bike.
Once I had the frame stripped I found that the hardtail was not really structurely sound....fixed that.
I continued to fix holes...divets...and smooth the frame a bit.
I dont have pics....but I built a tank mounting solution....picked a color scheme...and had some students at the school where I work spray it.
The engine was spraypainted silver....didnt like it....so I soda blasted it and painted it black
Ordered some vintage Firestones
Installed the engine....spent way too much money on new stainless hardware...
Started cleaning up the wiring....and installed my new Hondaman electric ignition
Then I decided...Hmm...Excel hoops with stainless spokes would sure be nice....$1000 later I had these.
So...like I said..I build cars. When it came time to get the rear wheel set up I had to get creative.
I had a good chunk of 1/4 aluminum stock laying around, so I built a battery tray
Now I had a roller
Started running wiring....I used painless powerbraid for the looming
Got my new dyna coils and fabbed up mounting solution
Welded on my new kicker pedal...
This is the point where I really forgot to take pictures...
Got the exhaust built..
Fabbeb up some heim joint hangers
Installed my mini hub mounted speedo
How the bike sits currently.....almost done . I just need to build a new front brake line.
