equipment laws when crossing state lines?

My bike is registered in Nebraska, but I'm living in and am going to college in Kansas. In Nebraska turn signals are not required on a motorcycle but they are required in Kansas, if I get pulled over in Kansas will I be ticketed for not having turn signals on my bike? Essentially, what I'm asking is; do I have to adhere to the equipment laws of the state I'm registered in or the state I'm in at the moment?

It's the state you're in at the moment. Same applies for helmets - local laws apply.

on the contrary (unless it is different for bikes) safety laws do apply; ie helmets and seat belts, but equipment stays the same. as long as your bike is legal in your state you should be fine. might get harassed by the cops but cant get a ticket.

this makes the most sense to me.

If your a registered student and bike is legal in your home state, you should be fine.
If your not a registered student, you usually have 30 days to get vehicle registered in a different state and comply with whatever laws they have there

Varies by state. Usually registration laws are maintained from the state of origin. PJ is also right about a registration grace period when setting up residence in a new state.
