Was skimming threads and saw a cut fender on a 750 and i liked it alot. Would like to do the same on my 550. Im thinking a band saw to cut it down and a grinder to shape it? is there a better route?
I cut down the front fender on my CB550, I used an angle grinder to cut it at the rear of the fender, drilled the rivets out, moved it to where I wanted the front and cut the rear of the fender down.
I then cut and shaped the original fender stay to make it fit and make the new fender look like an actual shortened original fender.
For accurate skilled surgery you need the right tool and a 4" cut off wheel is fine but mark it first and tape off around the cut so that when (not if) the grinder slips you won't destroy anything.
Wear leather gloves, eye protection and be careful where you point the grinder. It's easy to lose fingers or worse.
