Ever get the itch for a "modern" bike?

Scott- just one thing I'd like to share for you to bear in mind on the SV's,
Although I don't know your fuel-delivery preference, the 2003 and up bikes are fuel injected, which to me, is a great feature to have if you're already doing the whole "modern bike" thing anyways. You could still get the later model SV650's with a round headlight.

Mmmm TLR. What a sexy bike. And the sound... I did a long group ride behind one with yoshi cans on it a while back and I kept getting closer to the dude as we were riding so I could hear it more over my bike. He probably got the wrong idea... Even though it is kind of like meat gazing at the urinal.

If you like TLR's also check out the VTR Honda. +1 for late 90's V-twin sportbikes! Or any V-twin sportbike... :D

....and if you want a really poor riding position for farting around in traffic at 25 mph, sign my new ride up!

It's a terrible, hot ride, until around 100mph, and then hunching over a fuel tank behind a fairing all starts to make sense. I can guarantee you won't come close to maxing out the potential of this bike with no fairing. ;D

I think that those newer triumphs t100 are cool. They just are all so pricey. I wouldn't ever buy a bike that i can't work on Some stuff like fuel injection. I get it it is better science. I have owned sport bikes, cruiser bikes, 80s crap machines, but i really have enjoyed my vintage hondas most. I think it is because I can do 35 on one of those and still have fun. Get a modern sportbike and 35 feels like you are idling down the road. That said i really want an fzr800 i drool over it every time i go to the motorcycle shop. I am a walking contradiction and i honestly want it all.

I bought an ‘09 Nightster a few months ago, made a few changes to it and it does good for my daily rider. I looked at the Triumphs and just about bought one but I really like what I ended up with.

Is that a Dodge Coronet I see?
I came this // close to buying a convertible in 2006.

Biker reject- Dammit, you're right, I did say that I always detested them. You win. However, I would like to add that over time, I have come out of my 1970's shell and learned to appreciate all bikes, regardless of year or riding stance.
This SV was a big step for me, it's much sportier than what I'm used to. But I love it. Maybe you're right, maybe I'm just not ready for the full-on "crotch rocket" yet. I can't get used to the idea of driving something that uncomfortable as my daily driver......BUT, maybe when my testicles fully develop, I'll get an S model, or a TLR. ;)

I love this forum.

Decided to try and buy a Triumph Scrambler or a Moto Guzzi V7. The rotated V of the MG may not work with my legs though.

A friend's parents own a Triumph dealership in SAnFrancisco and can let me have a 2012 Scrambler for cost.

I scratched the itch - picked this up 3 days ago as my wife's first bike. 2011 Suzuki TU250X. Truly best of both worlds. Modern brake, fuel injected, Suzuki SCEM lining in the engine, 37mm front forks but all the looks you could want.

I love that bike!

That's my dilemma too. I am leaning towards the V7

If I could have a Triumph for cost I think I'd choose that over the MG. But if I was going to choose the MG I wouldn't choose the factory 'cafe racer' treatment. Buy the standard white one and personalize it yourself. I like the green they sell but figure white would be easier to paint over ;)

I like the red frame... and it isn't much more than the base model. They only sell the base model in red or black in Canada. :(

The weight difference between the Scram and the V7 is the deciding factor for me. I am a small guy ... I need a lighter bike.
