exhaust mounting question

I know this is probably not the right place for this post but there is no "exhaust" section...I am looking into getting the 4 into 1 mac system for my 74 cb550..it seems to me that it mounts to the passenger foot on the one side. Does anybody have experience with this?? I am asking because if it doesn't mount up that way i plan on chopping the passenger mounts right off

I'm pretty sure most (or all?) exhaust systems for that bike are going to mount up to the passenger peg bracket. Then again,
nothing's stopping you from making your own bracket, if you absolutely need to cut those passenger pegs off!?

It mounts to the passenger peg bracket. On my '75, because the peg bracket provides a strong mount point, it helps bring the exhaust ever so slightly "in" towards the bike which was critical in getting the brake pedal to clear. I don't think the bracket on that side detracts from the look....and you can chop the other side bracket off if you want to keep things clean.

That is correct. 4 into 1 on the CB is on the right (as you are sitting on the bike). I removed the peg itself and mounted the exhaust bracket in the peg hole with a stainless nut and bolt. Thought about hacking off the peg bracket on the left side...but never got around to it.

You might want to take your time in considering hacking it off as there may be a time when passenger pegs might be needed...maybe even a quick bolt-and-unbolt of pegs to give some strange, hot girl a ride or you go back to stock-type exhaust, want to mount rearsets, need a bungee hook spot, that kind of thing.
