Exhaust Tips

"Man is born free, and he is everywhere in chains"
I've been toying around with my little cb175, because, well it's a toy. I chopped off the exhaust and went straight headers. It's loud as shit, as to be expected. I don't know anything about exhaust tips, but I'm wondering if i can cut back ever so slightly on noise if I use a pair that tapper off a little. Or are exhaust tips purely esthetic? Thanks

I asked a similar question a while back and someone made the suggestion to slide those internal baffle things in, and it worked pretty well until i extended my exhaust.

This was the other thing I was thinking but I couldn't come up with "JC Whitney." Saw a 350F that used 4 of 'em, but no idea if they're junk -- JC Whitney has plenty critics, and I can't say I've bought anything from 'em. Anyone use these?

Hoosier Daddy used them on his old 350F. IIRC, he liked them, but you might want to dig up the build thread for specifics.

Cupid, I think you're spot on with what I need to do. As for the tips, I'm not looking for bells and whistles to throw on this old toy.

Now all I need to do is get my mid-range back haha
