Fat Front Tires

I just want to ask before I press order on some new set of tires. I know 90/90-18 is the recommended tire size for WM1 rims on my 72 cb350, but I like the fatter looking tires on bikes. My question is will I be safe running 100/90-18 on the front? Im going with 110/90 rear which should fit.

That's what I'm running on my 350 and it handles great. I was doing 110 front and 120 rear. That was to big. It felt squish when you leaned over hard in the turns.

Good to know. I want to do the same. What brand and what are the specs for the tires you are running? Got any pics? I am still weighing out my options.
Thanks

I've had good luck with Bridgestone Spitfires. Ill see if I can wrangle up a picture.

There's one in my thread here from when I still had the fairing on it.

Cool man thanks. Those are great looking tires. Where did you get them? Great last pic too. This CL 350 I am working on will eventually be my daughters. She has a little Honda copy of a monkey/trails bike.

I put a 100 tire on the front of my XS650. Doing it again, I'd go to the 90. I have a 90 (3.25 inch to be precise) on my BMW and it's 'lighter' feeling.

For the very subtle difference in appearance, I think you get a less subtle difference in handling. It will be great for general riding, but if you were going for all-out performance, I'd tend to think the OEM tire size might be a better choice.

I always go down one size on front and rear unless I have a 16 inch rear wheel, in which case it gets a 150. My Savage has a 100/90-19 and 140/80-15 stock set, the new front is a 90/90-19, and while I have a perfect 140/90-15 rear for it, I'm going to order/run a 130/90-15 rear instead. Seriously improves the feel while turning or in twisties, faster response to steering inputs. Slight on paper, but very noticeable from the seat.

Going one step larger in the front makes the bike feel sluggish. If it will even fit, usually you'll find a bit of interference with the fender bolts. My 63 CL arrived with a 4.00-19 front, a 4.50/4.60-18 rear... both with the edges of the tread blocks chewed up. It will be wearing a 2.75/3.00-19 and a 3.00/3.25/3.50-18 rear when it is back in service.
