FFJMOORE Big Blue Engine rebuild

Re: FFJMOORE 74 CB125 Big Blue NEW PAINT!

That's what I'm running on my other 125 and I would go writhe the same set but everybody is out of stock for the rear tire. So then I looked at the IRC nr45 or 52 and same thing. I could find 1 tire but the other size would be out of stock. So last night I just ordered a gazelle for the front and I'll just run the knobby tire I have for the rear until somebody had the tire in stock.

Re: FFJMOORE 74 CB125 Big Blue NEW PAINT!

Can you please share your jetting choice for your bike? I have a 77 with a pod filter and a different muffler and I cannot get it smooth in the top end. It sputters and backfires and loses all power in the higher revs. Any advice?

Re: FFJMOORE 74 CB125 Big Blue NEW PAINT!

From my experience, that does not sound like jetting but that you carbs are not thoroughly clean in the main jet. If not you could always raise the needle 1 notch and see if that helps. I was running stock jetting, pod filter, and straight through exhaust and it ran ok. I bought new jets and as soon as the bike is up and running again im going to do a plug chop and see where i am at on jets. Have you done a plug chop or atleast pulled your plug to see what it looks like?

Re: FFJMOORE 74 CB125 Big Blue NEW PAINT!

Back from the upholstery guy but im stuck at work so no progress till sunday. On the list, front fender and headlight, plug in the wiring, put on the foot pegs. Then i need to wrap the exhaust. Monday i think im going to take it to the transmition shop and have the cables shortened. I may be looking for a ne front wheel. I think the hub on this one is shoot.

I have cleaned the carbs over and over, I'm fairly confident thay are good to go. I have had the needle in all 5 positions with no luck. The problematic area just seems to move to a different rev range when I change the needle position. I may go and soak the carb over night and see if it changes anything.

Re: FFJMOORE Big Blue (NEW PAINT & Upholstery!)

I have a similar issue on my cl125. Its a sort of bobble at a certain rev that moves with the needle height. My theory is that the needle is worn but you cant get a new one so its kinda har to test. there are a bunch of chinese carbs that would fit but i dont want to go through the hassel of sorting out the jetting on an unknown carb setup.

Getting closer. still on the list, wrap header, chain and guard, lower front fender and possibly tac. Drill and mount blinkers.

Re: FFJMOORE Big Blue (NEW PAINT & Upholstery!)

Are you going with rearsets? Those clipons must be pretty uncomfortable with the stock pegs. My drag bars are pretty much the limit for me. If the bars were any lower and I'd want to move the pegs.

Re: FFJMOORE Big Blue (NEW PAINT & Upholstery!)

I may eventually make up some rearsets but my Cl125 has clubmans and i ride that a lot. If i ride for a couple hours my back gets a little sore but i never really ride these any distance, its usually across town and back. So ill ride it as is.

Re: FFJMOORE Big Blue (NEW PAINT & Upholstery!)

Headers wrapped, chain and chain guard on. Need to put fluid in the forks and finish the left handle bar and its basically done. I need to replace the front wheel, the drum was rusty and pitted so the brake is really spongy and doesn't work well.
Im pretty happy with the look of the black wrap.

Re: FFJMOORE Big Blue (NEW PAINT & Upholstery!)

That really is the best looking seat I've seen on a Honda 125 cafe.

Re: FFJMOORE Big Blue (NEW PAINT & Upholstery!)

Thanks guys. I fiberglassed in some bolts and it fastens from the bottom.

Re: FFJMOORE Big Blue (NEW PAINT & Upholstery!)

picked up another one for $45. I just cant get away from these little bikes. The blue one turned out so well, i think i may do another one but maybe a street tracker or brat style on the next one.
