I bought an '88 Honda CD250U 'bout 18 months ago and now i'm wondering if it was really a good idea lol.

Any way i have a question. Is there anywhere i can find a site where i can cross reference part numbers to see if any parts are shared between my bike and any other Honda. I know the motor is the same as a CB two-fifty (CB250N) and a 250 Rebel (CMX i think).

I know about cmsnl.com and am very glad they have all the schematics (sp?) for my bike but i can't 'cross reference any part numbers.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Yep BUT Bikebandit doesn't show the CD250U as it wasn't sold in the US.

cmsnl has every part # i need for the bike but i need to find what other bikes use some of the same parts, purely for source & supply.

Ah, i see.

If you hover your cursor over the part in the list below the diagram on CMSNL, it will show a long part number, which you can use as cross-reference.

Finding crossing bikes that use the part is difficult.. Probably one of the easiest ways is to do a search on ebay by the honda oem part number and check the box for "include description" and if it is used on several other models usually the seller will show multiple models or you'll find multiple sales for the same oem part number but for use on a different bike, then you can search accordingly. Same with google searching.. Ebay has always worked out the best for me though when doing the same thing... Hope it helps.

Go to CMNSL and grab the OEM part number (including the dashes) and then pop it in the right hand form on this page (don't enter the model, just the part number), it will list all the bikes that use this part: http://www.motogrid.com/pages/OemParts?aribrand=HOM#

A CD250U was basically a pedestrian version of the (at one time) hotrod CB250 'K' series.

It uses a single carburettor and makes around 20hp, versus the claimed 30hp of the original K1 and 25~28hp of the subsequent models.

It was sold en mass to many countries including Britain, Australia and Europe as a runabout or learners bike. I believe they were also used as steeds for some civil servants.

I'd be willing to bet that the intake pattern is very accomodating and will let you convert to twin carbs if you desperately want to, otherwise all running gear is going to be either very similar or even identical to the CB250 series.

What I do is find the Honda part number, and then plug it into Google. Normally that will give you a few hits with lists of what bikes they fit. That's how I figured out that CB350s and CB360s use the same intake and exhaust valves.

Thanks guys.

It's twin carb' from factory mate.

go to http://www.babbittsonline.com/home from there you can navigate to the oem parts section type in a part number and hit search. From there you can select the "where used" link and it will list every bike that part is used on. It's a charm and very useful if your looking to pick up a used part that is listed for another bike to fit on yours.
