First build. 82 KZ 1000 LTD

I think I got the rear brake figured out tonight. We'll the hard part any way. I'm using the stock lever because I don't want forward controls and I don't want to spend the money on something else. Here is my set up. Sorry for the blurry pic.

Any opinions on weather this will work ok, and how does it look? I noticed after the second pic that the rod looked at an angle so I fixed that already. Also hooked up the return spring to the pin holding the rod to the linkage. All that's left is hook up the break light switch.

You'll probably find your lever is too long and you'll need to push it down a lot further than before to get any brake action.

Also, do you have a return spring for the lever / pedal? It will fall down and drag the rear brake otherwise.

Thanks. I thought of that and set on the bike like it is. Not really a lot of movement so I can't see it being a problem when it's hooked up. Yes I put the return spring on after the picture. Thanks

Still lots to do but here is some updated pics.

This post certainly changed things haha. Could be pretty wild. Thought my XS would be interesting in one of their frames but a kz lump is a whole nother ball game!

Ya it was meant in a good way. Voodoo has some very interesting products and I'm excited to see what you do with it. Keep trucking

Got some more parts in today. All excited cause I got my sprockets from Z1 enterprises. We'll that didn't last long, the chain I bought is 120 link not even thinking I needed longer. Well I'm about 6 links short. Also a heads up for anyone that is changing to a 530 setup. If you have the bolt and flanged nut that you bend the tabs around on your bike. The 18 tooth front sprocket that Z1 sells DOES NOT have the holes for the locking tabs to go into So I guess I'm either buying a longer chain or getting another 120 to make mine longer. Also bought some plug wires I like. Looking forward to putting those on hopefully tomorrow. Then I'll be down to wiring the bike. Heres a shot of the parts I got today.

:) Well yesterday I did it. Got my chain on, wheel lined up and started figuring out the wiring. after a couple hrs I couldnt take it anymore. I hooked up the battery, set it on the frame and used tape to hold it behind my seat. Hooked up the electrics, start button and off switch. bundled and taped all the wires next to motor. Installed my exhaust and fired it up. Well thats not good enough on a running bike, right? So I unloaded it off the work table, welded on the kick stand and set there contemplating my safety, LOL. OK, front brake, eh no need. Back brake, check. Shifter, check. Clutch, check. Off switch, check. OK fired that puppy up and headed around the block. What a rush, I forgot how fast this sucker was. It's only been 2 months since I rode it. So I still have to get a tail light, head light, battery, rear fender, battery, and wire it. So far I'm way ahead of schedule for this "winter project". Hopefully I can keep moving forward at this pace. After I'm done I'm going to upload some detail pics of the stuff I've had to fab and such.

I'm starting on my wiring part of the bike. Im going to be running a headlight, taillight, blinkers, horn, and starter. My question is, what, if any of these items should I run a relay for? I'm running 7ga for battery cables and the main hot wire of the stator is going to be 10ga if that matters.

Time for a new update. This project went a lot faster than I anticipated. Thanks to everyone here for the help with my questions. I can't believe its the beginning of Nov and I'm finishing with my "winter project". The bike is complete except for hooking up the blinkers. I'm just waiting on a controller to do that with, also have some wires to hide. Like I said this is just an update as I am waiting until it's complete and I can grab some pics before I finish up my thread. Should be shortly so be patient. Here is a teaser to the finished bike. Ask away with any questions and feel free to compliment or criticize my thread thus far. Will check back in soon. Ta Ta. Oh I almost forgot, the 2 ports on top of my valve covers for the pollution crap can just be blocked off correct? It just had a hose with a t in it routed to the back of the motor when I got it. I was going to find some caps to block it off? As you can see in the picture I have them taped off for the time being.

As Ron Burgundy would say, " Boy, that escalated quickly..."

Really impressed with how quickly you got this far. Excited to see her all tidy-ed up.

You can block them off no problem, but a smarter thing to do is to use a T piece to join them and hook them up to your crankcase breather. I did that on my old ZX9 and the seat of my pants dyno said it improved the throttle response....and maybe a HP or 3.... ;)

Good info but I already found some plugs at autozone. Thanks for the info though. I may use it some day

Coming very soon, its dark by the time i get off work now and I just got some details to finish up. I'm waiting on the controller for my led blinkers. Hopefully more pics by this weekend. Its so close to being done I don't want to ruin the reveal before then HAHAHA.
