Fitting a CBRF1 Rear Wheel on a 77 CB550

H'ok, after much searching I am left with a very confusing idea.. How do I mount a disc rear wheel to my 77 cb550..

Ideas; Swing arm swap, but with what? Custom Swing arm, who makes one? Mod the current swing arm, how?

Basically, this idea came up because I wanted to swap a modern cbr600 fork on the front end of my bike. I do not want to have mismatched wheels, mag in the front spoked in the back so I want to change the rear wheel to disc.

If it is easier, what front hub would work for the front that I could keep my spoke'd wheel set. It would have to fit in a cbr600f fork, use dual discs, and have a mech speedo drive.

I do understand that there are more hurdles to be had by putting the cbr600 rear wheel in the back of my bike such as spacing and chain alignment, but I've heard those are actually pretty easy to compensate for.

Any help would be appreciated..

I found a 78 CB750SS Rear Swing arm on ebay for $10 so I am going to try that and see how that fits up..

Or you can do a bearing swap, have some spacers cut and mount a dual disk spoked front wheel...

Get a dirt bike hub or just run the whole wheel. there cheap lite as hell all over ebay the hard part is figuring out what years and model run what wheel size ize found several 18 and 19 inch wheels at m/c salvage yards then if yoy want to motard hoops. imho mags are the worst

If you want 19" rims, you will run into tire selection issues. I had this very problem. Going with 18" in the rear for that reason. You won't find anything wider than a 100/90 for a rear. Just some advice..

So I found a 78 CB750 SS Swing arm.. It is the same length as my 77 CB550 Arm, same shock mounting tabs and yet it'll run my rear disc brake!

Just finished mounting it all up. Need to make a few spacers for the wheel, but it looks good!

hey do you by chance have pictures of this finished and on the bike? i'm looking into possibly doing the same w/ a cbr f2 rear wheel. trying to figure out if i would need to swap out the swing arm on my cb550
