Fixing pitted and gouged Honda stock rims

Been Around the Block
Ok have gotten into my wheels with the sand blasting, on my way to painting them. I have noticed one rim has about 2" worth of pitting along the rim lip, and one side of the rear rim has gouge's around the circumference of the rim lip where some dumb-ass tried taking a tire off. I've been thinking of building up the area's with weld but am concerned the rims may be an alloy of some sort or maybe tempered or hardened steel and by welding would weaken or compromise the rim, I am a good welder and completely know what im doing. My other thought was to use like quick steel or jb weld to fill the blemishes, obviously that should work A+ but would rather clean them up with some weld and blending.

If your going to paint them anyway I would just use something like liquid metal.

use body filler. the wheels are steel, but if you strip the chrome, no issue in using some body filler before paint. ive done it with a set of alloy wheels (for a car) in the past without issue. just remember to rebalance.
