Float height

Can someone clarify the float measurement for my CL350? I swear the more looking I do the more -specs- I find. My manual says 21 I believe, but I've seen 19~26?? The bike in question is a 73 CL350 engine #5****** with carbs 722A... I have them set at 22 now and it runs well but seems to use quite alot of fuel, and the plugs are a little dark as well as a little dribble from the over flows.. Please help me clarify this.. Thanks in advance..

I don't think the floats are sinking or twisted.. I use a small metal ruler to set the height. Basically I turn the Carb to a certain angle to where the float touches but does not compress the needle, and then I use the mark that's cast into the Carb body as a guide and measure to the bottom of the float.. and searching has told me that measurement is anywhere between 19~26mm.. I think I might try 24mm. I'd really like to know for a fact what the height should be

a service shop manual will tell you the correct height, usually float height is measured from the gasket surface to the bottom of the float

That's what I'm doing now I just wish I was sure on the level I was at 22 I'm gonna try 24 we'll see how she works :) thanks for the suggestions

the 722a carbs have a float height listed as 26mm, primary 78, secondary 105, 35 pilot, the cl350k5 that you have lists that it should have the 726a carbs

Well that's odd.. and ill have to pull the carbs back off lol I just got done adjusting them to 24 no biggie though.. thanks for the info
