I am thankful I am alive, that there was a door knob on my side of the door this morning when I awoke.

I am thankful for my wife, and that she loves me despite, and probably including, all my many quirks and idiocies. I am thankful that she can still walk and still work (she loves her job), that there are medicines and treatments to help keep her well, and that there are many more advanced medicines on their way. She is my lover, my confidant, my mistress, and my best friend. I could live without her, but I pray I will never need to do so.

I am thankful for the talent and desire to write which I have so recently discovered, and for the group of friends I have made in my short walk as an author. Their support and encouragement are invaluable. I am especially thankful for my wife's support and encouragement in this endeavor. I cannot imagine she doesn't get tired of yet another rewrite of chapter one, or two, or... And yet she cheerfully listens. Again. And gives her feedback, both good as well as bad, when I am through.

I am thankful for my parents. Their continued good health (My father has just embarked upon another restification, this one a 1959 Chevrolet Impala). I pray that I can continue to have their advice, support, love, and companionship for years to come.

I am thankful for my family. My parents, my sister and her family, my grandmother, and my in-laws. All have left their mark upon me, and I pray that I have given back to them in some small way, some portion of the love they have given me.

They say that the secret to happiness is not in getting what you want, but in wanting what you have. Sure, there are things that I want, but I am blessed to want what I have. I have a great family, a great wife, a fantastic marriage, and even a few bobbles and bits. For all of this, and the myriad things I have failed to mention, I am thankful.

To all those in the U.S., may you have a very Happy Thanksgiving! To all outside the U.S., may you have a wonderful day!

Shiny Side Up!

Any day on this side of the grass is a good day. Everything else is gravy.

I'm thankful for health and happiness, and friends and family to share it with.

Couldn't have put it better Bill .... a Happy Thanksgiving to you all from this side of the Pond.
