Fork questions

I tried the 6mm, do I have to remove the Circlip first? I spent like 10 mins trying to make the socket go into something, but I dont know if I am forgetting a step or what, so far all I have done is removing the upper fork leg bolt and take out the spring, and the oil was already drained. Thanks for sticking with me on this one.

The Allen bolt is at the bottom pointing up (#8 in diagram)
Put the spring back in and cap on to hold damper rod
You have to remove circlip to get seal out

Wooow I am soo stupied, I am truly embarassed. But thats good to know, and now makes perfefct sense, I think I over think stuff sometimes. Thanks again PJ

The allen in the bottom... Neither of you sirs needed an impact wrench or some sort, to remove it?
My manuals tell me I may need a powertool for removal. Not sure if the forks I have, have ever been broken down before...

At any rate, wouldn't a hammer do the same thing? with a proper wack...

Lol, good job I've been teaching this stuff so long, I could 'see' what you were doing ;)
You wouldn't believe some of the things I've seen people trying to do
I have trouble, believing some of it, and I was there ;D
