Fork reassembly help

Noob question here. I've got my forks reassembled and ready for oil. When i put the oil in do i pump the forks a few times to get oil past the damper rod before measuring the level? The manual doesn't say.

Bike is gn250.

Found a video on you tube. Said to pump the forks so I have.

Would all be back togeather now if I hadn't decided the steering head bearings are stuffed.

might as well get the front brakes and wheel bearings while you're there .

Still heaps of life left in the pads, replaced then a year or two ago. Did the steering bearings though.
