alrighty, i am wondering how to go about looking for a new fork for my 72 cl350. i like the look of inverted forks and i do want more modern looking forks on my bike, i just don't know how they are sized. most of the mountain bikes that i have worked on are 1 1/8" and that is one of the standard sizes for head tubes on mountain bikes. i was wondering if there is a convenient standard size that i could base my decision off of. and then comes the question of travel and rake, etc....let me know what i am staring down the barrel of.

thanks.

Your best bet is going to be finding a complete front end with forks, triple trees, brakes, and wheel. Press out the stem on what you find. Use the stem from the CL and press it into the lower triple.

common swap is to go to cb500 or better cb550..35mm, no stem change required,,but you may have to install another stem nut or spacer between the top triple and the top bearing race,,my cb runs a 75 cb 750 k front end,,the tubes shoot over the top clamp by about 1 inch and a half(38 mm+-),,,,,its a track lump!!!!!!! don't waste your money or time on a modern "upgrade"..good luck!!

Doing a K4 750 front end swap now on my CB350 K4. Like Buzz said, the stems a little longer. The tapered head bearings are the same all the way to the GL1000 (which is what I'm putting on the 750-dual discs, 37mm tubes, etc.)

cb 500 four and the cb550 basically are shorter(lowers and tubes) and better to fit to a cb 350 twin, the real deal is to fit a cb 450 front,,,,but there hard to find,,,good luck!!
