Been a while since a showed my ugly face, but I figured I would let ya'll know about my current project. I got a 1974 CB750 for free. It is missing the front brakes (all of it expecpt the disk) but is otherwise complete. Had it running within the first day bu just doing a major tune up, fresh gas and new battery. Plans are for a ratty cafe racer. Bare bones. No starter, kick only. Cycle X power arc and light weight charging system.
Needs Tires, fork rebuild, brake system, and carb sync.
OK, lets say "Barn Fresh" just a little clean up but leave the crusty paint (just smoothed down) and most surface rust spots. Looking more for that rode hard but up wet patina.
Na, Lucky Devil! I tend to find the deals that everyone else wants by talking to those who don't want it.
This one came about from a customer asking if I knew of any motorcycle scrap yards that buy bikes. I asked him what he had, and it was this 74. He told me he had a title and that he had it running years ago, but put it up because it started getting hard to start. He then said that if I wanted it, just come pick it up and he'd give it to me.
All it took was a valve adjustment, carb clean, new battery and fresh fuel. started first kick.
Wow, life sure does get in the way when it comes to updating a forum. Work work and more work. I have done some things to the bike. Decided to go bobber instead of cafe. here's a pic.
