front end swap what does it take?

im in the process of sawping out my front end of a 97 suzuki intruder, other that knowing the size of the front stem what other factors should i consider when doing a swap? i was thinking of swapping it with the sv650 if the size it right, do i also need to look at the upper and lower bearings and the race when looking for a new front end? need help

Sometimes you can get lucky with stem sizes and they will just plain fit but if the stem is shorter on the new Forks you have need your old stem machined into the lower triple tree AllBalls has a conversion chart for the bearings but they don't have the stem lengths

The length of the steering stem will determine what will swap into the head tube. Figure out the length, then worry about bearings.
