Just buy Tygon fuel line from McMaster-Carr and be done with hard brittle lines forever.

I use rubber hose with a braided cover from BMW - OEM lines for the old Airheads. Looks nice, high quality, never gets stiff. I don't care much for clear fuel lines.

Yikes, $7 a foot?! You could run steel braided line for that price (or cheaper).
