FZR600 fighter

Hey Joe,
it looks like you've got a 7 or 9oz CO2 style bottle in that first pic above. If that's been powdered and oven cured, you do know you can't pressurize it again right? Powder temps are high enough to anneal the aluminum and it WILL explode if you plan to run say....nitrous or CO2. Both are static in liquid form at around 800psi give or take, plus a good bit higher if it's hot outside.
Having seen what one of these does when it blows I can assure you it ain't pretty. It'll take flesh right off the bone, never mind the shrapnel. Don't blow yourself up man...

He is using it as his overflow for coolant! I think that should create about 0 psi total, hot or cold! :D I am such a smartass sometimes!

The rest of the time he's just an ass! :p

Seriously though. Great work Joe! That color is the tits! Can't wait to see this all come back together!

Just love it when brother give each other a hard time on the internet... ::)

Great job Joe, it looks amazing!

nope not at all, it is a single coat laid at 1 mill not 2, used black as well so that it will naturally dispense heat better... will be fine... i can still see though all the fins so there was no build up.... she starts to go back together tongiht!

i also got another set of forks. i am going to slam the front end of these bike about 1.5 so that when i drop the rear 2 in that the rake and trail will not be all over the place. do to so i am going to add a spacer on the damper spring, that is 1.5 inches, then i will cut 1 inch out of the top of the main spring... put it back together and use 15w fork oil... figure that heavier the better. then my wife cna stand flat footed when she rides it

just beware of corner clearance. Hate to hear something like a highside happened somewhere down the line....

(what...when did I become cap't safetyguy....sheesh! Ride too fast, take chances..)

ooh trust me that is one thing that i have checked over and over... i have seen guys do 3 inch drops and i am def not going to go that low... it has me a bit worried but the nice thing is that the lowering bones i got will let me go 1 inch, 2 inch or 3 inch adjustable in just a few moments so if it is dangerous i will just bring it up a notch. i just need to find someone to weld up the kickstand after i get it all at the right ride height so tht this thing is not standing strait up and down!

reassembly!.... time to get organized. cleaned up the work area, vacumed (that is right i vacume the shop easier to keep it clean than sweeping and does not put all that dust in the air to fk up my paint work)
put in the new swing arm bearings, upper and lower, and got the arm on, then i had to call it a night and go to class or my sifu would kick my ass for being late again. got a table set up with all the parts to go on, put the muffler back together with new packing and flipped the output cap so that it faces up when it is on the bike not down, figured why not it is different, the orange and black look killer... also tossed the switches back in the switch housings
I will put some serious time in on this sucker tomorrow and hope to have the motor in and a roller so i can get it up on the table and really get working on her

Looks Sick!! If I ever pick up a sport bike, I'm gonna have to slam the front and lower the rear like you're doing...I'm 5'3", 5'4" with shoes on :)

Can't wait to see this thing all shiny and shit on the road!

well.... there comes a time in every mans life when they have to say.... I WAS WRONG, and my friends i was SO WRONG. powder on the legs was such a bad idea i can not even express it. took me 3 hours to do the forks, thank god i had an extra set of legs, anyway i dropped the front end 2 inches to match the rear, added a spacer in the damper and cut 2 in out of the uppper spacer. did a blend of fork oil, 10oz 10w and 4oz 15w so that should do nicely.
motor is in. shock is on, lowering links are in. forks are done, trees are on
she is coming along. man i was so wrong powdering the fork legs, they got suck in the lowers took me forever to get them out and do it right, i was wrong, can not powder them. oooh well least it is my own build and not a customer!
she looks awesome so far!
slammed front end

Sorry to hear the forks didn't work out, sounded like you had a fair bit of polishing on them. At least you are taking it as a lesson learned.

I love watching this build, actually all of your work is awesome! Look at the positive comments you get doing a cafe, a bobber, a fighter, or even a winger! Thanks for sharing!

Ya Joe, tough break on the forks. But like you said, at least it wasn't a customers build and you did have the extra parts around to make it right.

It's looking great so far! Can't wait to see her done

did not get much done this weekend, was sick, had dads bday, and customer stuff to get through...
did get the wheels on and new bearings in... took forever as the bolts where a mess so i took them all down and polished every bolt that went back on the bike... got to keep it clean and looking new!

then got the bike up on the table so she is easier to work on now! had the wife sit on it to test to make sure i got her low enough for her to ride she is 5'2 on a good day, and is just about flat footed on it... and super pumped i may add to ride this sucker
