Garage Door Opener

sxecafe

You think the Carpet Pissers did this?
I know this is total cosmetic question, but has anyone installed a garage door opener that they like? Im thinking of popping one in to the steering bolt.

Has anyone even done this? I always thought about tucking one away and putting the button somewhere on the handlebars

Ya... there are a few available. I just didnt know if there was a better one to get.

I didn't even know they made these things, I was just thinking taking my wireless car opener and extending wires from the button inside to a button on the handlebars I'm also interested in what people have done.

Im interested.. Nothing like riding right into your garage like Batman or something haha!

A guy on a SV650 site I'm on wired up his opener to the 'flash-to-pass' button on his left hand control. Really slick job, hides the controller itself where the rest of the electrics are so nothing is seen.

F'n brilliant. How much does one of those run? Be looking for the 120 pound, 5'6" model.

I've heard of kits that connect to the high-beam circuit - seems like the best option to me. Easiest option is a key-chain garage door opener, which is what I have. But my XS no longer has a key of any sort, so.... I get off my bike and use the keypad I have mounted on the outside of the garage.

They can be VERY expensive. I've heard that some models can actually pay for themselves after a few years, but I've never experienced it myself. :)

:) :) :) Saw that when I did a search before the thread. So funny. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it) I have no lackies to do that for me.

Herr - So he just took a regular garage door opener and mounted in with the electronics and wired it out to a switch? That would be awesome as the LiftMaster replacements are only $30+/- and a switch from RadioShack is always cheap. Might be the way to do this.

Here's the writeup, just looking at it and he put the opener in the headlight bucket: http://forum.svrider.com/showthread.php?t=130652&highlight=garage+door+opener

Tim is really taking a liking to this topic! Love the info, sir! Thanks!
