So i have a 1972 cb450 with the stock tank and wanted to change the regular gas cap (which i dont have and dont want to spend an ass load of money on) to something more modern like a flush mount gas cap(link below is what i want). i no i have to cut the original gas cap neck (if you will) and weld on the bung. my question is should i weld in the bung or braze it? also will there be any downside to doing this? imo there shouldnt be a downside cause im just switching out the cap, but any suggestions or information you can give me will be much appreciative!!!!

TIG weld is best. Brazing would cause too much distortion because the heat spreads out over a larger area. You could use a low heat silver braze, but I wouldn't use standard bronze brazing rod. I've tried it on gas tanks, and it just kinda messes thing up because of too much wide-spread heat.

Apologies if this is the wrong place to ask this question, but I'm trying to swap my cap out too, I have an 82 Twinstar and I removed the old lock panel and want to swap the stock gas cap with a locking one. Anyone know where I can find one or what will fit the stock gas tank?
