Gauging Interest - Possibly Selling 1979 CB750K LTD in Michigan

Get to the Choppa!?
I'll throw up some better pictures of the bike later. The bike is completely together now besides the carbs.

The bike is a 1979 CB750K and is the 10th Anniversary Limited Edition Model.

The bike all in all is in pretty decent shape, the tank is a little faded on the top, and the seat has a small rip in it. I'm going through the carbs on it right now, but it does run and pretty good at that, just has a stuck float and overflows out the tubes a little.

All the electronics on the bike work, it has a new battery, plugs, oil, new handlebars, new signals, new master cylinder..

Tires don't look bad but should probably be replaced at some point.

Milage: 15,600
Price: ?? what do you think its worth?

Have you tried seeing what similar bikes go for on ebay and craigslist? Ebay has an option to see what the selling price was on completed listings.

Is that a current pic?
Do you have the rest of it like the Headlamp and side covers?
Terms like "all in all" or "pretty good " are rather vague and hard to give you a good price guide.
If what you see is what you get, I'd say $500-$600... but if it is all there and ready to ride home $1500-$2000 isn't out of the question.
Oh and I am about 125 miles away, so I have some slight interest... but if I am buying it, looks more like about $100 worth. ;)

that picture is not current actually, the bike is completely back together, headlight and side covers are on it. I just haven't had a chance to get a picture of it assembled yet. as of right now, no the bike isn't ready to ride home, but that's only because I pulled the carbs on it. whenever I get it back together it would be completely rideable, obviously the bike is not in pristine condition, and I am not expecting to make $3000 off of it. but if I can only make $500-$600 on it.. I'd much rather just keep it, not worth it at all to sell it for me.

I have a yamaha 750 and would like to have a cruiser that is a bit bigger.. like an xs1100 or a GL1000, so trying to weigh my options here on possibly getting rid of this bike, I picked it up and put a good chunk of money into it already to get it rideable, its a good solid bike, just not what I was looking for.

Put it on eBay. Start your auction at your bottom dollar price an anything over the first bid is gravy.

Can't argue with that logic. Not really a downside to listing it and you may make enough off of it to help out with getting a bigger bike

It's probably only worth $500-600 to those of us that can do all our own work. to someone looking to buy a nice vintage bike I would say $1000-$1200 if everything is there and works.

the only problem I see with selling on ebay is that there are a bunch of different fees involved using them.. but I guess that IS an option.

I don't understand what you are saying here? now why would a bike be only worth $500-$600 because someone can do their own work? the picture doesn't show it because I haven't taken any updated pics yet, but its a complete bike, it wouldn't need any work unless someone decided to strip and cafe it out or something. but just because someone is gonna strip it doesn't make it any less valuable? or are you saying that people on this website are only looking for bikes in the $500-$600 range?

That really only applies to customized bikes.
I sold my last cb350 for 2500 bucks to a guy who just wanted a cool motorcycle but couldn't build it himself. On here people know what all is in a bike and no one is willing to pay for your time because they can do it themselves. It works that way in any customizing community.

The big issue with selling a bike here is that many people can get much better deals from Friends and acquaintances so we don't pay full price for a bike.

Your 750 depending on your market if day is worth 1500-2000 if its in good shape. That can vary hugely depending on where you are.

That being said I would only give 5-800 for it (if i were in the market) because I don't particularly need it and I'd only buy it if I thought I was getting a real good deal.
See what I'm saying?

I probably look at every single old honda on craigslist in metro detroit and I'd say as it sits I'd list at 1,500 and take the first 1,200 offered. I think that'd be fair.

Yeah, I would also emphasize it's a '79 Honda CB750 LTD... not a K. The 10th Aniversary Limited Edition's get more money than a standard K model.
