gel seat pads

Been Around the Block
I picked up one of these Conformax gel seat pads online. It's 1/2" of memory foam and 1/2" of gel. It got really great reviews. It's a trim-to-fit kinda deal and it goes under the seat cover. It arrived at home today but I'm stuck at the firehouse til 8am tomorrow... I will make sure to post on the results. Right now my seat is slightly softer than plywood...

I had a U.M. I remodeled the seat to fit my taller butt. With just the same pad on the plastic seat panel, it was a bit to stiff for me. She on the other hand said it was the best seat she had ever ridden with. It seems to keep her girl parts from chaffing.
Who Knew

I have an Airhawk inflatable pad I use for long rides. Nice to sit on and easy to stow away.

I need to find something for my sv650s daily rider. If Imtake it out in a longer ride after about 30 miles my balls are numb lol

I'll quote myself here:

"I'll be sure to post the results"

Then nursing school and work kicked into high gear. Sorry!!

So the pad has one side with some high density foam and one side with the gel. I put the foam side up, but the seat is still really stiff. Nothing replaces a good foam pad apparently, but the vibration is somewhat reduced because before I was just bottoming out on the metal pan.

Overall, I'd say get good quality foam before this pad, because it still feels really stiff.

My neighbor has an SV650 and he has 100,000 miles on his Corbin seat and said it's just getting ready to be replaced.

Nice! I will have to look into that. I revise my previous statement though. I rode 1000 miles in 3 days on that seat and other than the expected tired ass it was fine. One thats ecen more comfy would be awesome though.

Man I love my SV650

Edit: I don't know that I can justify $250 for a seat....

I'll say it again - AIRHAWK!

Or a good sheepskin - all those old grisly guys and BMW riding adventurers can't be wrong :)
