Getting a tag and title for a bike with no title in Florida

Hey guys, thought I'd just be able to file for a lost title but they say they can't find my VIN in the system and that I'm going to have to get some sort of court order stating that I own the bike. It's a 76 CB750 and it had passed through a few hands before I got it and the previous owner never had the title either.

Any ideas on what I can do here? It feels like the DMV is screwing with me (as usual) :)

been there done that with my older honda, may take a little longer but best bet is to go with someone out of state

I have the same problem whit a cb360 no title , here in fl the DMV are #%#%%^*+ never whant to help . I think the best way is purchase a frame whit title . I can't fine one cheap . :)

yeah, it's just depressing. I just want to get on the road legally so I'm not looking over my shoulder all the time and I swear they are making it as difficult as possible.

Florida sucks when it comes to titling bikes. I had a title with mine when I went to register it. Now before you can get a tag, you have to have insurance on it AND have the VIN VISUALLY INSPECTED by a person of the DMV. So basically, you have to ILLEGALLY ride your new bike up to the clerk of courts, have them check the VIN against the title, and then check your insurance, and finally you can get a new registration. I would suggest contacting a magistrate of the court and asking them how to go about it.

When I registered my bike all I did was show up at a tag agency with the title signed by the PO and got my tag. Unless you've been at fault in a motorcycle accident you don't need insurance in Florida so I'm not sure why they required proof of insurance.

dlv....thats good to know , this is my first bike .looking forward to have it ready asap
