I may post pics in a few mins.....But after wrestling this new Shinko tire onto the rim (took hours) I can't get it to bead tried the starter fluid thing 10 times. But after an all day affair it still won't hold air....any miracle workers out there?

If it's really that tough, bring it to a tire shop, they'll have a bead blaster. A bead blaster delivers a large volume of highly pressured air and will force that sucka on. I know some tricks, but damn if I know how to explain them without showing.

ALAS I have got It!... Gobs of petroleum jelly ....Then More Starting fluid and while the wheel was on fire I had to add air Until BANG!!! (gunshot sound) and she was inflated Magic I guess only had to burn my hands and half the tire

hey, felt i should comment as i have had the same problems of getting a tubeless tire to bead and getting a tire to just go on the rim, but have found simple solutions for both. first off, for an easy time getting a tire on, try the zip tie trick. rather than explain it, here is a video...

i thought it was too good to be true, but i tried it just a week ago and had my tire on within 30 seconds. and it's true what he said about more windex, it is your friend during this process! only difference between the video and my experience was that i did not have heavier duty zip ties like he did, mine were thinner, but they still worked fine. i also put them in about 7 areas around the tire while he did 4.

as far as getting the tire bead to seat, try taking a ratchet strap and putting it around the outside diameter of the tire. tighten it down, and this will squeeze closed the little gaps where air escapes and prevents the tire from inflating. here's a vid...

just a few tips for next time!

I used that zip-tie method on the front for my Intruder a little while back and was quite surprised how well it worked. It was a 150/80-16 tyre so I thought it would be a fight....but not a tyre lever was lifted from the tool box ;D

yeah, isn't it great?!? there's also a vid from the same guy removing the tires with zip ties, but i haven't tried that. worth a shot though.

I did give the removal a go - but I had to get the tyre levers out to finish the job (probably because the old tyre was quite hard). It certainly helps though - and if I did it again I would leave the wheel out in the sun for an hour or so to heat it up and make the tyre more pliable. I'd imagine you'd be able to then remove it with little effort ;)

huh, i'll have to give that a try next time. i opted for the cutting wheel approach the last time i removed a tire :)
