Going 1 aspect ratio lower and using 2 rear tires?

Hi,
My GSX400 has 18" wheels, the stock tires are 3.0x18 front and 3.5x18 rear.
since i'm making it sort of scrambler i wish to use amore "off road" tire, but most of the come only at 21" front.
i found a pair of kenda rear tire that comes in 3.50x18 and 4.0x18, i think they will fit on my wheels, but can i use a rear wheel on the front?

another question is if i can use 80 aspect ratio tires instead of 90, again thinking about using two rear wheels (kenda 761)110/80-18 instead of the 3.00 and 3.50

Thanks
Eran

Eran, your wheels are 1.6" wide up front and 1.85" wide in the rear (those are the sizes you need to know). Do a Google search for "Drop Bears tire chart" and you'll find a list of tire sizes that are generally recommended for your wheels.

o.k i get all this, but where i live i have very limited option and i can't import tires (it's bureaucratic hell)
so can i use a rear tire up front or it's dangerous?

It's definitely possible. You have to flip the directional arrow of the tire though (so the tread is facing the wrong way). It has to do with the construction of the tire itself.

Eran, have you thought about going with a 19" front wheel? They have better tire selection, and you can upgrade them to dual disc brakes with different forks. Just getting that out there......

will a 3.50 tire fit on a 1.6 rim? will it be safe for riding?

Fit yes, safe no.

I use to think putting the rear tire on the front would end having the tread backwards. If you look at the tread pattern on a directional tire they are different front to rear and when running a rear tire on the front backwards actually makes the tread pattern correct for the front.
