Going to Harbor Freight tonight...

I have bought all my tools for the house there and the only one that has failed me yet is the tumbler which might have been my fault but don't tell them that. I have a sander, cir. saw, jig saw, drill, sand blaster, drill bits, grinder, and a buffer. The grinder is a 4 inch with a 7/8 arbor I don't know that it is a common size. My buffer is a 1/2 arbor they don't sell 1/2 inch arbor buffer wheels there.

I tend to shy away from big $$ (sic) purchases at HF. You can certainly get some deals, the screwdrivers posted above are the shite as are some of the other stuff. Just keep your eye out for repurposed Yugos. If the metal looks at all shady don't bother buying it.

If you're looking for serviceable tools that'll hold up but won't put the shop-keeper's kids thru med-school check Grizzly Industrial, McMaster Carr etc. If you live near a "major" metropolotan area try heading into town and do a physical search of tool shops. I've gotten some of the most remarkable deals after digging thru a greasey dusty tool room and BSing with some crusty old kat. I got a couple grand in tooling and fitments for the milling machine(s) for $50 and a couple hours hanging out with said old kat. I still go hang out every once in a while, he greets my like family now and knows more about tools and tooling that I even will. Neat guy.

A note about Grizzly power tools. Most all are rebadged big maker stuff. Jett and Delonge are suppliers so you're in pretty good hands with their stuff.

Hey John... Theres a place up my way (in Beaver Falls) called Hamilton Tool. Amazing. Its a huge old sandstone building that full floor to ceiling with new and used tools. Every tool ever made can be found there if ya have a few hours to kill. SUPER CHEAP too...

http://www.toolsupermarket.com/ (not sure whats up with the shitty website...)

How great looking is this place?

Yup. Right before the Mcmahons Honda/Harley dealership, which I dont reccomend stopping by. Kinda pricks IMO.
