well... all of the powder is almost done... just a bit more left and that can wait till later once we get deeper into the build. last night i got the shop ready for re assembly set up the assembly table (there where so many parts i had to set up 2 tables)
tonight ill start putting parts on the frame, after i mask off the frame to protect it of course
but here are some more pics
now all i have to do is figure out what to do on the rear shocks! i need to find some coil style shocks that will work on this bike. sean hates the air shocks so i want some coils so we can tear them down, cut a coil out to lower her, then powder them all up. any ideas on this?

I got a set of GL1000 Factory shocks. They are ok shape and you would be powdering them, they may need a rebuild but I could bring them with me to WV. Trade them for a case of good beer. Should bolt right up, and the bikes weigh about the same. They are eye to clevis. I will get some pics tonight if I can get my home computer fixed.
Hey Joe, if you find shocks you like online you could cut some struts to the right length to do your mock up until they are able to arrive. That way once they show you can bolt them up and go. Just a thought.
ok, rubber is on the wheels, bearings are in, they are dyna beaded so you have no wheel weights
most of the fab work is done... got to mock up and finish the front and rear fenders then powder can be finished
made a mount for the headlight so we did not have to use ears and could run a clean fatty front end on the bike. was able to shave it down and shape it on the belt sander so i could still use the stock joint for the brakes where it belongs
switch housings are done and painted and ready to go
seat pan is all cut out and the padding is in, have to glue that and wrap it
front end mock up
made some covers for the upper forks, and mocked it up with the damper mount that was milled. the covers are shot to match the frame to pull that into the rest of the bike a bit more
i have to make some new bushings but the shocks we are going to go with are off a 2006 dyna
Looking good Joe, Are you going to powder the shocks? Might look a bit out of place if you keep them all chrome. I like the fornt end so far. Can't wait to see the finished product.
yep shocks will be all black wiht a red spring. got to cut them still... but first i need a needle vavle for the carbs the one i had was bent! on one of the carbs! that is my next I NEED project! ha ha ha wonder if one of the honda carbs i have would work for the needle
I'm new to this site but Maritime is spot on Randall is the king of GL carbs and will have whatever you need. He'll be closing up shop soon no doubt for a couple of weeks so i'd get your order in quick.
By the way I've been following your thread here and can't wait to see this finshed. One word ... Inspiring!
Randakk is the man as far as carbs go, but as mentioned he is going on vacation soon for a couple weeks.
There is also http://www.cyclepsycho.com// tell Dave (cyclepsycho) or Frank (1crazymofo) you're a NGWClub member.
figured out the shocks. was able to remove the stock bushings from the air shocks and remove the stock bushings from the HD shocks and swap them! worked awesome!!!! now i have coil shocks on the bike! i can get a roller and figure out how much i need to cut them to slam this big bit#$. Now i need a new carb needle and we are golden!
This bike is gonna be crazy ... I was looking over your pics of the front end and noticed the fork covers. If the tubes are nice and shiny why not show them off? I just think there might be too much black. Can't wait to see it all together though.
ha ha ha we have gone out of our way to eliminate EVERYTHIGN that has a shine or gloss to it on the bike... and i mean everything, even powdred the bolts and nuts... he named it "flat out" so we are going to get all the shine covered or powdered... plus the covers will make the front forks look .5 bigger than they really are and give it a really fat fron look, help to make the headlight look smaller! just what we want!
