Gonna try something... Building a XR1200 seat.

So here's the catch. I have myself a 2009 XR1200, but absolutely hate the seat; I'm not a fan of the pointyness and all that plastic. But unfortunately, every seat I can find has the same exact look, so I've finally decided that I'm gonna make my own.

Currently, it looks like this

And I'm really digging this one here:

So I am going to start tonight and will keep you updated. As far as I know, no one else has made a custom XR1200 seat.

Needs a kick starter :p

There's a company that sells a side cover with a fake kicker on it. You actually fold it down and "kick" it to activate the elec starter. I have yet to see one in person. Thank christ...

Good on ya for doing it yourself. There are some good and one absolutely amazing (the one posted yesterday by RocCityCafes) threads on building your own seat.

Storz makes a seat for the XR1200 and many other parts for that bike as it was their design to begin with.

Personally, buying gold would be a better investment than buying from Storz.

So... Whats your point?

Bought some foam and went to town carving and shaping. Put the set of clubmans on, but decided that I really don't like the way it looks, I like the drag bars.

Wrapped the foam in some fabric and took off the sausage mufflers. I think this is a cafe-able bike!
