GOT a Zookie! "OVERKILL!"

HDaddy....ya gotta do it.....you just gotta. Just as busy, buffer smooth like that guitar.....heck yeah!

I once ruined a perfectly good Fender Jazzmaster with EVH paint scheme, all I can say is the novelty may wear off pretty quick....

Hey Hoosier... pete from the GSR here, good to see your build! You don't have a build thread over on GSR do you?

I'm liking where this is going for sure, and clever work on the fork brace!

Hey Pete, welcome to the madhouse!
Yea, there's a build thread on GSR. It's linked in my sig over there as well... but there will be some post differences. I haven't sprung the paint idea on them yet. Thought I'd wait to see where it really goes.

Man I must be blind again... or having another senior moment... ::)

That paint idea looks good to me... are you 100% decided yet?

Like the guitar paint idea, do it. If it doesn't turn out, you can always repaint, but I bet it looks awesome.

Cheers

I'll be the odd one out and give the paint scheme idea a thumbs down.

Bikes are all about lines. What's the sense of throwing off the bikes lines with a tank that has lines going in all different directions? Just my take on it.

You are always there for me Swagger and Joe! Thanks.

Pretty much, I picked up that masking tape and a small can of Bondo "Gold" to because I just can't remove ALL traces of the dents with the "Ding-King or Pops-a-dent" tool. But it has been WAY too humid here to strip and prime, let alone color coat.

Exactly what I was thinking I can always strip her down and start over.

I appreciate your honest input RockVegas... That's why I asked! I was leaning toward a blue tank with white coves to add some color, but you see those style paint jobs all over the place. I want this bike to go BAM right between the eyes! to get your attention so you are drawn in. Then notice all the details, after all she's just an old Zook "L" model *yawn* ;) I'm thinking not eyeryone likes my builds, most can apprecite what I have done... but would they actually "DO IT"? Nah...
I have had a couple of Goldwing owners freak at mine. "That's a GOLDWING?!?" as if to say "But where do you put the Teddy Bear?" To me that's priceless! :)
And if it turns out like ass, or I get board with it like MB mentioned earlier, I shoot it with something else.

Cool... looking forward to the end result! I wish I could make my mind up on a colour... at least I know the scheme pretty much, just not the colour...

Started the day with new Bits-n-pieces. Gaskets, rubber plugs and the replacement mixture screw. Socket head cap screws (allens) are a complete set for float bowls, caps, front and rear mounting plates.

Carbs right

Carbs left

Once that was completes I got the Kerker / Supertrapp installed and then rolled the rear fender another 3 ½” forward for a total of 7” from stock location. Thanks for the suggestion Joe!
Here are the walk-around views as she sits today.

Somethin tells me she's gonna be a handfull! "Ton in the quarter" would be sweet.
I think my next purchase is going to be a Uni Filter UP-6245ST . The stock air box is two pieces, one mated to the carbs and a filter box attached to it. Figure I can keep the half that mates to the carbs and replace the filter box with the Uni. Measured the inlet right at 60mm, I can get a K&N that size with a lot of choices in shapes, round or oval, straight or cone, with the mount being straight or angled. But DAMN near $60 where as a Uni with a straight or angled 2 1/2" inlet in a 4, 5, or 6" length should suite and I can get that for $14!!!

Been searching for pro's and con's.... There is a black single stage or you can get it in two stage with a second overlayer. Don't freak on the color, it will be behind the side covers ;)

Yeah he's obviously a *cheeky* bastard :p

Hoosier, never heard of the Ramairs before so can't help you on that one I'm afraid...

Coming along great Hooiser. Your motor work is clean enough to eat off of! This will be another nice one when you get her complete.

It's been said before, but everything is looking good Hoosier!

There was a member here selling the older style K&N's (2-1 but with the chrome lids) for cheap. His user name started with 240.......then something else. They are probably gone by now though. Sorry!
