I was thinking today about the GPS in my freinds truck.. It has a speedo and pile of other crap built in to it. Are there dashes for bikes that have the gps and speedo built in? 99% of the time im anti electronics and gizmos but this could be very helpfull since there is no where easy to stick a map on my bike aside from the tank.

hell ya man! that is what we did on my brothers chopper. here is how we did it. used a mill to cut out the shape we wanted and needed. then i polished it out. once it ws polished used an old mirror bracket and bolted it up to where the mirror would go... works great and looks great. I also powdered the support clamps for it

There are special mounting clamps for mounting a GPS unit to the handlebars on your bike. My buddy has one on his Harley ElectaSuperDeluxSpaceshipModel3000GigantorSpecial for when he runs to the west coast and what not. If you just got rid of your stock gauges and mounted one it would work just fine. And you could pop it off when you were parked so it didnt look goofy. If you only use the GPS on the bike it works as an odometer too...

I use a TOM TOM XL, they are small and light, as well as only 100 bucks. as far as waterproof we just remove it if we get rain or anything starts to splash

You can get motorcycle specific that are showrproof but they get real expensive compared to 'standard' GPS

A lot of the handheld GPS's are waterproof but they don't have the turn-by-turn capabilities of automotive ones. But they can use RAM mounts to mount to the bars and have speedo, odo, heading, etc.

if size is a big deal you could try one made for bicycles. easy to pop off and put in your pocket. down side is the need to be recharged fairly often, but for a cafe bike thay may work
