Okay, heres where its at...all changes purely cosmetic..but now Im considering drag bars...clearance issues? She'll do an easy 98 mph with a stock airbox, should I even consider pods instead? Also trying to save for seat hoop and rear frame mods...suggestions?
Try cutting up an old broomstick and clamping it in place of the bars. Personally, I'd go with superbike bars since you don't have rearsets.
The stock air box is very....VERY restrictive on the GR. It just doesn't have the room it needs to be effective. As far as pods go....there are some other issues there. The frame is kinda in the way for starters, and you'll need to support the carbs somehow (or your intake boots will rip off). And I don't know much about jetting the stock carbs - sorry.
The bike looks pretty good as is! I wouldn't cut up that frame.
Just tryin to figure out something that'll give me a few more options for replacing the seat...want to ditch the whole bi- level effect and create some riom for electronics...barring that I may end up having mesh side covers done up,maybe perforated steel, have to take my rear fender to be shortened anyhow. Next up...tackling the perrenial charging issue and finding valve shims...any ideas greatly appreciated. Thanks!
The charging issues......well, there's a ton of info about GR systems over on the GSResources. Way too much for me to type out on my phone.
As far as the shims go, check out Z1 Enterprises for 29.5mm shims (other bikes use 29mm shims, which can evacuate a Suzuki head.....). Shims can also be found on eBay as well. Know what sizes you're looking for?
Not sure what sizes needed, just some advance preparation...some ticking and occasional backfire on decel from right side. i figure it's always good to have the spare small parts to avoid the big hassle in finding them in a bind...or paying the garage premium. I'll check out the resources Thanks Rich
