Hello,

I'm new here! I just got my first motorcycle; a 1969 Honda CB77 which was restored over the winter. I pick it up this weekend and I'll post a litany of photos when I do.

A bit about me....

This past December I bought a 1977 Vespa 125 t.s. on a bit of a whim. I'd always thought it would be fun to run around town on an old scooter, and maybe even commute to work in nice weather. The price was right and the bike was clean so I snagged it. Then I signed up for the MSF course locally figuring why fool around with an L class license at all, and I'd like to learn what I'm doing in a controlled environment anyway.

My wife and I both took the course, both passed the exam and in a couple weeks will receive our endorsement certs for our M class licenses. So we both would be able to ride legally, but only have one bike. What to do??

People said it wouldn't be long after that till I bought a motorcycle. True enough, I started passively looking around. Found a nice Triumph Thruxton in Detroit for a good price! I ran it by my father who has ridden his whole life until very recently who said, "That bike will kill you." He was probably right, so I passed on it. Then a few days ago I found a stunning CB77 that was just restored and given the Cafe Racer treatment. It was spectacular. It was like a baby Thruxton. The seller was local, so I drove out to see it, and bought it that evening.

Now me and my wife have our own little Rockers vs Mods thing going on in the garage. So, I'm very new, having ridden a total of 30 miles over the course of the class weekend and I'm sure I'll have plenty of dumb questions for your entertainment/ridicule.

I'm 36, a mechanical engineer by degree but a consumer product developer by trade. I live just outside Chicago. Also really into sailing, cooking, traveling and music.

My name is Dugan! Hi.

Ha! Let me know if your wife's Vespa needs any extra mirrors, I probably have some around. Welcome to the fold.
