Been Around the Block
Indianaplolis, land of cold and wet. and really great roads a bit south of here. I'm a long time biker but new to cafe'. I have, over the past few years, aquired a few bikes for that purpose. A 77 KZ1000 is the target machine. Don't want radical changes as yet, but they are sure to come. Working on safety and dependability issues at the moment. Discovered this great site looking for ideas, and here I am. pic is bike as of now. not much different from when I got it. the 77/78 exhaust sys lends itself to easy mods. 4 into 2 (then cut off crapped out muffs) and add whatever muffs you can get to fit. these are $60. dunstalls, repacked with fine stainless steel wool. sounds great. Kwak provided nice little covers for the connection area. I put on low bars and a mirror. that's about it for now. The Kwak duck tail doesen't fit the cafe' style easily. I don't know if that's the reason you don't see too many cafe'd Z's.
I do like the stock bodywork config tho. I'll think on it for awhile, and I do have a snotter and a complete basket for a more traditional setup. Input will be welcomed. In the meantime, I'll keep an eye open for a cheep, local, running, early CB750. Those things were born to be cafe' racers.

Welcome! That bike looks great in stock form.

thanks for the welcome BigB, I like em near stock as well. needs something tho. thats why I'm here. there really isn't alot of Z/KZ interest for cafe' use out there. haven't figured out why yet. I wlii sort that out tho. here is a pic of a nice tail/seat. can't find who makes it, (probobly old) but it's the style I'm after. busa's are cool. you gonna caff one?
