Greetings from Tennessee

New guy...
Greetings.

Keeping things short and sweet, I am new to the motorcycle life. Found it on craigslist for an unspeakable price. I know little about motorcycles, but am a car guy at heart. I live near the Dragon and once my ride is sound, ie. has a front brake, I am there!

Thanks to all you who post information on your builds! I've already learned so much and am glad to be part of your community.

Welcome. We may want to get together some time for ideas and sh*t-shooting. I live three streets down from The Dragon. If interested, let me know more information some time of where you're at or hit me up some time. My bike is about 3 weeks out from being completed for the year, minus paint. Just got my new rear tire mounted yesterday, I found a guy that lives right off 9mile that'll unmount, mount, and balance a tire for just $20, no tax, or $40 if he has to take it off the bike and put it back on. You can't beat that. We can do everything in house except tires, so finding a neighbor basically who can do it was great luck.

Thanks, guys. I don't get on the site very often, but I try to keep up.

Chimera, awesome neighbor! I got a front caliper from a guy over near Louisville Rd. Decent price and a good guy. A friend of mine bought the bike that he was rebuilding recently. It's a basket case, literally.

Anyway, I have had some trouble getting my brakes sorted. The caliper is seized and the master had no flow. I got another master, but the line was in a different place. So, of course, my friend happened to have some clubman bars laying around and they put the master where I could connect the brake line. Unfortunately, after the fitment test, I dropped and lost some of the switch bits and will have to get new switches. Don't work on switches outside on a messy carport.

In other news, I did ride it up and down the block. At 4500 rpm it starts to cut out a bit, like a lean misfire maybe? Oh well, probably because I put air filter pods on the carbs.

Until roadworthy:
- usable front caliper
- switches
- ability to rev past 4500

As an update, still not roadworthy. Got new CL exhaust pipes from KYL3. My switches are sitting on my desk staring me in the face. And my caliper is in the trunk of the car with the grease gun that failed to even move the piston. The new battery is beside said caliper, as I did not know that motorcycle batteries come 'some assembly required.'

Tomorrow, will fill and charge the battery, and make another attempt at removing yon piston from ye old caliper.

On a happy note, did mount my new exhaust. Started it up and it sounds mean!

On a sad note, it takes an act of congress to get a title to a bike if you don't have one... So I'll work on that as I have time.
