This bike has been driving me insane for the last 2 years trying to make it something nice
I started building this seat ages ago and just wasn't happy with it so the bike has sat in the way all that time and last week i thought bugger it, just put the damn thing together and see how it looks.
The hump needs some filler in it as its made out of a really rough cb tank and i plan on making a fibreglass seat base that will bolt to the steel frame so it can be covered properly but i don't want to go much further until i'm sure it looks alright.
What do ya think? Is it good enough or am i just getting too annoyed with this thing to care anymore? :-[

I think it looks great! Especially the rear view. That bike has a tough tank and frame shape to get the seat lines to flow right but it came out nice. You done good.
On another note... Maybe I've been spending too much time at work, but do me a favor and either chain that argon tank or put a safety cap back on it. Those sonsabitches will go through 3 block walls and keep going.
I really like the shape, works well. Like Rich said, as long as it works from you from an ergonomics point of view it should be good. The only thing I'd change about the seat would be to change the angle of the bump stop to flow with the line of the subframe tube coming up, instead of being totally vertical like you have it now.
After hours of staring at my tempter I've concluded that unless you use the stock seat, bridge the dip from the tank to the back of the frame, or modify the frame then the stock frame is best for a bobber. The seat you've made looks really good though and I'd be interested to see how it would look finished. I bet that with different bars, and a seat cushion that helped with the line, it would look really good!
thanks for the compliments, in all honesty i'm not really happy with it but without modifying the frame or using a seat like Big Rich's there's not much you can do with them.
Big Rich, sitting on the seat it is very low and i have put the foot pegs and rear shock back on to see how it feels at ride height. By the way your bikes looking bloody awesome these days, you've done a great job with it.
HerrDeacon, I was going to do just that but there's a couple of supports welded from the hump to the seat frame there to put some strength into it so it would be pretty hard to do without cutting it all apart and starting again.
Swivel, unfortunatly there isn't enough room to move the hump any further forward otherwise my butt won't fit! Are the vincent flat bars the same as drag bars? Sorry i'm not really up with the lingo but i reckon they would really help the look.
kwazykid, I really wanted to bob this bike because it would be the easiest way to make it look nice but the laws over here are just too damn difficult and with all the other projects i've got going i cant afford to pay to have it hardtailed.
Hoosier Daddy, the argon tank shouldn't be too much of a problem now because i got it around 10 years ago and left the gas running one night so she's totally empty. Really lucky it didn't take off that night.
You guys are right the bars really dont work with this bike but at this stage i'm just fabricating what i can without spending too much, i'm also building a couple of old school cages at the moment.
kwazykid, this is a crappy photoshopped (paint actually, i'm cheap) pic i did of a design for a bobber style seat (this is not my bike, just a pic i found and edited). The problem with this style is how to hide the electricals and make it look right.
at least with the seat i have i can hide most of the electricals in the hump.
I don't want to be strung up for sacrilege but what if you kept the seat like that and did forward sets so you ride it like a bobber? It would be like a cabobber racer!
