My first crack at doing a cafe after a whole bunch of years of being a Buell/Harley guy...

AAAAHHHHH. I am building a GS1000 and was thinking of a copper and hunter green color scheme. Awe well that decided blue for me since I was indecisive about what combination to do. Looks amazing though and I love it. What wheels are those off of?

The wheels are a set of vintage Morris Mags - hubbed for the 'zuki

I love everything about the bike except the yellow plug wires, if they were black it'd look much cleaner, nonetheless it's beautiful.

Yeah, thats what I'm talkin' 'bout! Sweet setup, especially like the detail on the tank and rear.

If you didn't know, I reckon you'd mistake it for a factory special.

Very sweet bike. I like the exhaust. What is it out of or where did you get it? How does it sound?

the 4 into one came with the bike, I swedged it open a hair to accommodate the exhaust can - it is a old Wyleco unit that came from a Buell I used to have, shorten it up about 2 inches because of a end that was damaged - - it is pretty quiet at idle, a low note - quite nice, above about 3,500 rpm...it sounds like...well, a Suzuki - you can hear it....

Nicely done, the aesthetic works too. I dig the reveal in the tank and seat though i wish they lined up.
Pretty friggin smooth!

thanks - just can't make it work from every angle - something is always off due to the surface shapes - so I choose a pretty ,uch dead-on from the side as my line-up

Man I LOVE this bike. That's the color scheme I think I was trying to get, but ended up more gold than copper.

What's the skinny on the seat? It looks like the glass hangs quite a bit lower than a standard cafe seat and even has a notch for the shock mounts. Is this a custom job? A separate piece? Something that is available prefab?

I'm still trying to figure out how to hide my weird frame under the seat and this looks like a great way to go.

Thanks! rather than just cut off the tail, I fabricated the flat section from just behind the side covers which goes all the way around under the seat out of 2" wide steel, it is all welded to the frame, makes for a sturdy seat support, and I thought it just looked much more finished than simply hanging the seat - as an added benefit, I can remove the seat and upper tail without removing or unplugging anything - used the original stock seat hinges and lock and fiberglassed them into the cafe seat.

Please don't mistake my comment, I dig the bike!

That is really a killer idea! I hope you don't mind if I take it as inspiration and fab up something similar.

mate, I've just restored a 'skunk' for a friend, and I'm wishing now we'd been a bit more creative. This is a beautiful bike. You seem to have a designer's eye for colour combinations. I love it.

What did you do to the side cover badges? Is that a clear green over the top?

cheers

thanks - appreciate the kind words! - Yes, the badges were sprayed with a light coat of emerald green kandy - then cleared

OZ, can I bug you for pictures of all the motor mounts on your GS1000? I am putting my motor back in and can't remember where they all went.
