GS1000 sort of yoshi rep

kicker

Been Around the Block
Hello there
Picked myself up an old GS1000 on a whim, mostly complete but unknown condition, previous owner bought it for some parts then flogged it on to me without ever trying to start it (it originally came from an estate sale).

note the knobbly tyre on the rear :)

Gonna do a bit of a Wes Cooley race rep/brat style maybe, the aim is to keep it cheap at least
I have gone through most of the bike and checked and fixed a few things.
Calipers are rebuilt with new pads, forks have new seals and oil, carbs cleaned, wiring repaired, new wheel bearings etc
Most of this was done so I can get it back on the road legally

Sourced some new old stock stickers, It has a yoshi cam and runs bel-ray oil so I don't feel too bad about ricing it up :)

Have got some wire wheels to go on

Tomorrows job is to weld on a new bracket for the exhaust, it's just held on by tape in the first pic haha

I have the exhaust mounted now, just needed a bracket to be welded on so I could bolt it to the rear footpeg mount.
Some clown had cross threaded one of the threads in the head but I managed to tidy it up with a tap so it's now all together.
My 530 conversion chain and sprockets are on their way now too :)

Lame pictureless update :)

I have my 530 conversion now, if any one is interested these are the JT Sprocket part numbers I used
JTF513 (17 tooth) for the front and JTR816 (48 tooth) for the rear. I bought a spacer from Z1industries.com to allow the nut to do up on the thinner front sprocket.
Also have some Dunlop D404 tyres on the way, not my preferred ones but they were cheap with decent tread and a matching set.
I'll post some pics tomorrow

Fitted the fuels lines, primed the carbs, a second on the starter and it roared into life.
It ran well, just need to adjust the idle.
