GS450 project

Hey everyone,
I've been working on a project bike off and on for the last 2 months. I started with a 81 GS450 and put a 636 front end on. I also replaced the rear swingarm with a ninja 250r setup. After some measurements I realized that the 250 swingarm increases trail by approx 3 inches. So now the plan is to use the stock GS swingarm with the 250r's wheel, brakes & sprocket. For suspension I am going with a monoshock setup, ill need to fabricate some mounts.

Doing this requires me to make custom wheel spacers. I also need to align the rear wheel with the front. Does anyone have an easy way to do this?

Here is a pic with the 250 swingarm in place.

Awsome start. Much more involved already than my 450 is getting. What seat is that? I'm having a hard time finding one I like that is wide enough (but not way too wide) with the GS 450 frame.

Thanks Gary, This project is currently on hold, I do hope to work on it over the winter... prepping the house my little man who is due in 3 months. the seat is made by Legendary Motorcycles. Here's the link http://www.legendary-motorcycles.com/caferacerseats.html. Mine specifically is the Phat Tail.

It seems to completely cover the frame rails without an issue. Is that correct? My electricals I have moved up between the frame rails, and I need to be able to place my Gel-cell under the seat hump as well. Any other pictures of the fit length etc is greatly appreciated.

How is the sturdiness of the seat? How was the mounting with what seems to be an angled mounting surface? Did you get the fiberglass or the ABS pan?

I'm back!

My son is now 6 months old and already helping me out (not really)

So this project is back and I hope to finish it by end of summer. The seats not actually fixed in place yet, its just sitting on the frame. I plan on welding some tabs after I finish the swingarm and suspension.
