Gus Kuhn tank and Vincent Egli seat on CM400?

Crusader

I have no clue what I'm doing. :D
First, let me start off by saying I'm very new at this...Go easy on me please!

I see in the description that it will fit all SOHC Hondas with no modification. Is this really true? I can't imagine it actually being a bolt on tank with no mods. Does my bike fit the bill for one of these? If so, has anyone swapped a tank on a CM400 with a Legendary Motorcycles custom tank? I would love to do this tank with the Vincent Egli seat as the measurements for the seat are actually incredibly well matched for my frame (I know I will have to make a custom pan).

Thoughts? Advice? Thanks in advance, everyone has been incredibly helpful here!

The tank might fit over the frame, but as far as zero mods? Almost impossible. You will likely need to modify the front and rear tank mounts to fit the tank, along with adjusting your seat fitment.

Well thats better news than I thought. As long as I don't have to shave the tank down and add new fiberglass in the right places to make it fit. If the mounting is the only issue it should be pretty simple to solve (I say that with a grain of salt).

Pretty sure you'll have major issues fitting it as CM/CB frame is about 5~6" wide under the tank
Also, how long is that tank?
CM has a real 'short' motor so it may look weird?

OK, went back and took another look. 27" long, stock is about 21"~22" from quick measurement
From the underneath shot you'll have to do a bunch of cutting as it's designed for a 'round tube' frame not the box section you have

That tank is 27" long so the tank and seat will need custom mounting points welded onto the frame. While they fit down on top of the bike that's where the fitment without modification ends.

I didn't realize that the tank was that much longer than the stock tank. This sounds like a LOT more mods than I was hoping for. Thanks for the help everyone. I'm probably just going to leave the bike the way it is. Its too damn pretty to screw with!

I don't know if you'll be allowed to stay here if you keep making good decisions like that. ;)

I have that tank and it's very long. Freaking beautiful, but it's pretty much as long as I would ever go. I have a CB750, so on a 400, it would probably be too long.

If it looks long on a CB750 it would probably look peculiar on a 400 twin ;)
