half a cb350

That's a top 5 DTT build for sure. Well done. I love that taillight; where did you find it? My taillight keeps smacking the wheel, so I'm in need of a replacement...

--Thanks, Chris

bike is dope
I have an odd obsession with rubber pads on chrome side covers on painted tanks. love it. how much does it weigh ?

wow! I remember seeing the begining of this build way back when. I think that the green is a huge improvement, the yellow was just too yellow. I love the nitroheads seat, however I do wish that it wasnt fully wrapped as I think having the green on the cowl would really tie the back end together with the front. That being said, the bike is really clean, def one of the best micro-cc builds on the site!

As for the camera tips, wouldnt a wide angle create a fairly equal focus? I thought you want to back far away from the subject and then zoom in, this should stretch out the distances in the picture and make for a very selective focus.

Thanks for all the comments guys.

i'm torn - i loved the old seat and colour scheme, but it looks so tidy as is.
i likes it :)
I'm into yellow (as you could have guessed) but when I knocked the bike over and dinged the tank and after some comments that it looked like a taxi a colour change was needed.
So snot green it was.

"Top 5" wowthats an honor after being inspired by so many good builds on this site. Might have to get some pics in for the book!!!
Taillight comes from Dues ( they bring them out of Japan) its quite heavy and has the number plate holder built in (the heavy bit).

Yeh "green is nice"...
I would have liked some green at the back as well, but that is one of the reasons I went with the checkers on the tank to tie it in that way.

A wide angle will give you more depth of field at the same aperture as a tele lens but if you go too wide you will distort the look of the subject (usually a stretched look). If you get back and zoom in you are using a longer focal length and therefore you will compress the subject and background. The selective part comes from the aperture, at f2 it will give you a very selective view whereas at f22 you will get more depth (of field). This is why most portraits are taken with a short tele lens (85mm - 135mm or longer) as you compress the features of the face and blur out the background separating your subject and making them stand out. I said most as with anything there is always exceptions to the rules.

ok, ya that makes sense. Im a photo newb, I just took a food styling and photography class when I was culinary school. So I only got the very basics + learned how to make food (sometimes fake food) look incredibly appetizing.

the bike looks amazing. can you provide some more info on the tailight and where you located the decal for the tank. I tried a google search, but came up empty.

Food photography eh, very specialised and so many tricks (to hard basket for me).

Taillight is from Dues ex Machina in Sydney Australia they do mail order as well. Has a built in number plate holder and cost about $100.
The decals on the tank I had made up out of vinyl at a sign shop. Just designed them up in photoshop and took them in for cutting.
if you want the jpeg for the checkers just pm me or if anyone knows how I can attach the file here for people to get let me know.

Awesome looking bike! What did you do with your battery? I read thru the thread, but didnt see anything mentioned about it. What kind of battery did you get, and where did you hide it?

Thanks!
Stephen

sp. Deus ex Machina for those trying to google. http://www.deus.com.au/ but similar ones should be available from chopper suppliers in the US that import japanese product. can't remember which one, but have seen them,

awesome thanks for the battery info! Probably do something similar w/ mine here soon. You still running the starter on yours? Any issues starting or with that battery draining down?
