The first Cafe Racer I seen was 20 years ago and I've wanted to built one ever since. Last August I bought a 1976 Suzuki GT185 (all factory). I learned to weld aluminum and build a new aluminum gas tank, aluminum side covers, aluminum seat cowl, and a new seat. I still have stuff I want to do to it (repaint the frame and polish all metal parts). To anybody out reading these posts and thinking of building - do it. I am having a blast and shouldn't have waited 20 years to do it. Here are some picts of my bike (the car in the background is also a Suzuki).
Absolutely Outstanding!! The tank, covers, and seat cowl look top shelf! My dad bought my mom a brand new (with smoke damage from a dealership fire) '75 GT 185 and its still in the garage. Yours Rocks

Thanks for the compliment Stik70. Let me know if you plan on doing any work to the 75 GT185 in your parents garage and need a service manual. I have a service manual and am in the process of scanning the pages to compile as a pdf document. If you want a copy, let me know.
From One maritimer to another, Nice work. That is a nice bike. What part of Halifax are you from? I get there usually 1-2 time a year on a ride. I am in Moncton.
Cheers, You could sell those sidecovers to a lot of people I bet.
