Has anybody seen these

That is cool. But what really got my attention was the side bar to the right of the article, in particular, the Mission One electric sport bike! I've been waiting for a practical working model for some time. The styling is a bit funky, but I would love to ride one!

They do look a little Tron'ish, but I wouldn't mind having one either. The $68k is just outside of my price range though. :D

I dig it, but I wonder why cafe and not street tracker? Other than the seat and wheel size, it seems kinda interchangable.

I like it, but it seems silly to not have rear sets. Also is that the stock swingarm? It seems kinda long? And the front end seems a little tall. All that being said, 55hp on a 250lb bike should be tons of fun. I wonder what the powerband is like on the single cyl though.

edit: what frame is he using?

Check out Roland Sands website and click the CRF450 link.

Has potential but as it sits ....meh. Tanks too small, ail section is too big, tail light looks awkward, and needs spoked wheels. Not a bad attempt tho.

Yeah... Is that sportster tank? Methinks it is. Bleh.
Other than that awful tank, I dig the hell out of it. Looks like lots of fun. I'd like to see someone do it themselves though, rather than buying the kit.
Sporty tank on a cafe... Bleh. ::)

+1000000 on the tank... ugh, it just ruins the lines when the seat is bigger than the tank! besides, a bike like that should have a bigger tank for twistie hunting trips

OK, back from the dead. I didn't want to start a new thread for the same topic.

Has anything further developed from this concept? I agree the look ain't quite right but today's 450 singles make outrageous power. Combined with a 250 lb frame and fully-adjustable suspension it would be an absolute scream.

I don't see any mention of the bike at the Design Cycle site (below). I've burned up Google searching for other kit makers.

Light, modern bike, 55hp thumper? Sounds like a BLAST*!

* I mean "fun," not a Buell.

The only problem I see is getting a dedicated dirt machine registered for street use. I know it is more flexible in some areas than others. Around here it would be largely impossible.
Love the idea though

For what its worth... I think its kinda lame. Tons of potential sure. Too hobbled together looking though. As stated that sportyish tank is garbage. I for one think sporty tanks belong two places only. On a sporty, or on a chopper. Thats it. Maybe Im wrong, but I have yet to see a bike run one that doesnt fit those catagories and pull it off.
The CRF bikes are a blast. For a 4stroke thumper they'll wake ya right up.Would rather see a CR (2stroke) model, with some vintage RC60 style bodywork though.

Damn. Good point. Relatively speaking I think MO may be one of the more lenient states. Hell, it has to be because there are true supermotos (dirt bikes with a headlight and signals) running all over the place.

Another catch I wonder about dirt bike cafe's is the maintenance. It's my understanding that even the four-strokes are needy.
