I ask 'cos I was able to get a matching front end for my Kawasaki KZ650 for nearly nothing. I know- many of you would say I am silly; but I am thinking that probably (if this is even possible) just a super-rebuild of the stock parts is almost as good as finding modern replacements; heck- would even be cheaper and nearly as good once figuring in the cost of doing the high $$$ coatings and such. If y'all's think I am a bloody tosser for even thinking this way- tell me; I can take it!!! Just don't let me be an idiot and ask if it ain't possible...
Has anyone ever had their '70s front ends Ti Nitrided and uppers hard anodised?

It certainly couldn't hurt if thats what you want to do, but personally I'd be spening the money on good tyres, rear shocks and some fancy fork oil and springs. Hell, throw in some nice rims while you're at it. Remember, thats what I'd do.
Not sure about being almost as good, but if you do it I reckon you probably wont regret it...wouldn't be many bikes getting around with Ti-Nighted original running gear!

Don't worry- the entire front end works are getting the "works" treatment and (if possible) will have the proper internals to match with ti nitride and hard anodising. And yes- good rear shocks and tyres will be coming. I intend to spend a goodly amount to make the front end better than stock. While many may say that I should spend the money on a Gixxer front end, I think by the time I am done, I will have spent just as much on a Gixxer front end, swing arm, wheels, brakes, etc. as I would reworking the stock running gear.
No, if I can't get upgraded internals on these forks, then I am back to getting Gixxer parts, which will STILL get the proper upgrades on the internals, ti nitriding, hard anodising, etc., etc. I used to wrench bicycles, and we ti nitrided damned near anything that could have friction, including our race only sprockets, axles, etc.
