Has anyone heard of this project...

Can someone explain the pricing to me? (Not the highness, but why it is cheaper to order it later, rather than pre-order?)

Pre-order price: $499 deposit, $949 due at shipping = $1448

Wait until it is in production: $1399

That is a little odd....usually a discount for a pre-order...

I guess they think they'll sell out and pre-ordering ensures you get one?

If they sell out, wouldn't they make more? ?

Sure but it's kinda like the IPhone - there's a whole bunch of folks that will queue/line up outside a store to get it first rather than wait a week - this is a virtual queue.

I think in theory and on paper this all looks and sounds great but to put that much money down with a promise to pay more on a product that hasn't even been reviewed enough by regular daily riders is a bit iffy to me. Reminds me alot of that Google glass, was supposed yo be the next great thing till it was sent out for beta testing, then you find the battery life sucks, taking pictures isn't really all that easy and you find yourself using your phone even more in order to control the glasses.

I won't be happy until there's a jacket that will steer and operate the controls for me and boots that automatically work the shifter and brake.

Maybe we should just add another wheel or two to the bike in the name of safety as well. Possibly a wrap around windscreen and 10 airbags. At minimum my bike and gear needs to have at least the computing power of a 90s era PC.

In a perfect world, I could start the bike with my remote starter key fob, throw a leg over and sleep until I reach my destination safely. I mean, who wants to be bothered with all that pesky scenery or the visceral attachment you get to the machine while riding?

Since a helmet is ostensibly only good for 5 years or so, seems like a poor investment. For $1400 I can get 15 years of helmet. $1400 for 5 years, and then toss all the electronics seems a waste of $$....

I actually sent them an email earlier this week asking if the electronics could be switched over to another one of there helmets if something was to happen to the original. Still waiting to hear back.
