Headlight problem

I picked up a headlight assembly from an old Bridgestone a little while back. I really like the housing. It has the speedo mount in the rear of it. The problem I am having is it has the original bulb in it and it is 5 1/4" bulb. The bulb works but I know it's days are numbered. Does anyone have any idea on what I could use for a replacement bulb? I would really like to use an LED, but my options are pretty limited right now. I willing/capable of modifying the inside of the house to accept a different bulb. I don't think that I can cram a 5 3/4" Harley bulb into it. If I can get my hands on one I may try. I am wanting to put one of Speedhut's GPS speedos into the hole in the back. Any ideas?

Hmmmm...

Go to a truck outfitter (or their website) of some kind. 5 1/4 is a preety widely used foglight size.

If it were me, I'd try to find a 5 1/4" reflector for an H4 bulb and shoehorn it into your existing housing...does the housing use the little spring clips to hold the sealed bulb in place?

Even if you have to get a whole 5 1/4 housing to take out the reflector, that could be done on the cheap.

After you have an H4 bulb setup, you could also convert to HID; google "ddm tuning." Their kits drop straight into the H4 socket and require only minor wiring-in of the ballast. You'll want to run them on a relay from the bar switch, though--don't want the power-up surge passing through your switch.

IF you can't come up with anything try NAPA. I worked there for 15 years in their DC in Fontana and they have every conceivable type of light bulb. If you brought that bulb into a NAPA store I'd bet the could match it.
